Je Suis Mon Rêve is the graphic design studio of Marco Ugolini. I am a graphic designer and a visual artist. I like to explore the territories in between these two fields. I aim to find the synergies between concepts and final outcomes. My work results in media- and site-specific interventions. In my creative process I draw inspiration from Italian contemporary thinkers and I am fascinated by the etymology of words, the revealing of an essential meaning the word has carried with itself for centuries. By readjusting images and objects within a context, I want to open up a field for a philosophical and political reflection, commenting on so-called daily life.
In 2005 I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in visual communication from ISIA in Florence (Italy) and Bauhaus University, in Weimar (Germany). In 2008 I gained my Master’s Degree at Sandberg institute of the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Between 2010 and 2013 I was granted three scholarships for residencies at JACA, Center for Contemporary Art in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), at BLUMEN, Leipziger Kunstverein, in Leipzig (Germany) and, at The Guesthouse, in Cork (Ireland).
Since 2007 I have been working as a freelance graphic and web designer with a particular focus on culture-related projects. Amongst the companies I have worked for are Slanted Magazine (Germany) and FRAME Publisher (Amsterdam, the Netherlands). Currently collaborating with Axel Feldman at Objectif, London. Currently Senior Graphic Design Lecturer at UWE, Bristol.
